{"id":785,"date":"2013-11-07T00:30:30","date_gmt":"2013-11-07T08:30:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/greglawler.com\/america\/?page_id=785"},"modified":"2013-11-07T00:43:48","modified_gmt":"2013-11-07T08:43:48","slug":"the-holga-split-lens","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.greglawler.com\/america\/the-holga-split-lens\/","title":{"rendered":"The Holga Split Lens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Holga split lens camera\" src=\"http:\/\/greglawler.com\/america\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/MG_7726-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Holga is a $30 plastic film camera that has the potential to produce magical results.<br \/>\nFor this project I cut the lens in half and flipped one side over with the hopes of getting a mixture of both clarity and blur in the images.<br \/>\nThe regular convex portion of the lens provided the normal Holga &#8220;sharpness&#8221; but the flipped over, concave half, is where the real magic happens! \u00a0Take a close look at the photos to see the blend of these two optics.<br \/>\nAll the images are also either double or triple exposures &#8211; in many cases I would take the photo and then get close up to the flag and take a second shot of the star field before winding the film &#8211; this resulted in some great starry textured overlays.<\/p>\n<p>All these images were shot on Kodak and Fuji 120 slide film which was cross processed and scanned by the passionate folks at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/colorservices.com\">Color Services<\/a>\u00a0in Santa Barbara\u00a0.\u00a0 To add texture, many of the images are double exposures made by taking a second shot of the star field before winding the film.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; The Holga is a $30 plastic film camera that has the potential to produce magical results.
